Owls Research
We were researching about owls for over a month. Now I'm gonna share facts about a Burrowing owl. It builds it's nest in a burrow. Burrowing owls eat insects. Their predators are humans. They need a clean environment in order to live a healthy life. My owl has bright eyes, their beaks can be dark yellow or gray depends on subspecies. They lack ear tufts and have a fattened facial disc. The owls have prominent white eyebrows and a white "chin" which expands during certain behaviors, such as a bobbing of the head when adgitated.

Best Christmas Pageant Ever.
We finished our 4th Novel, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever written by Barbara Robinson. The main characters in this novel are The Herdmans. The way I would describe the Herdman's are unusual. The one thing that suprised me about the book was when Imogene was smoking. A few Character Traits that I found in this novel were nasty, weird, disrespectful, and crazy. My favorite character in this novel was Imogene because she was the only one that really cares about the pageant and she was trying to learn more as the pageant went on. We are going to read the sequel to this novel The Best (Worst) School Year over break. I'm looking forward to reading this because the same characters are in it. I think this book was good because there was a lot of action and the Herdmans turned from bad to good. If I could have one of the Herdmans as my friend I would choose Imogene, because out of all of the Herdmans she was the one who really believed in Jesus. Well that's all I have for now, There will be more in 2014 .

Loser Book Review
We just completed our third novel. Loser is a book by Award Winner Jerry Spinelli. The main character in this novel is Donald Zinkoff A.K.A Zinkoff. One word that describes Zinkoff is brave. The reason I think this word describes him is because he doesn't care what people think of him. Some of the settings in the story are 900 Willow Block, Zinkoff's house, and his school.
Important events that happened are Zinkoff loves school. Mrs. Biswell was irritated by Zinkoff because he kept messing with her stuff that only she can touch, plus threw up on it and he was asking dumb questions. Mr. Yalowitz let Zinkoff sit in the front row and he was a problem. Mr. Zinkoff made a take Zinkoff to work day because his dad couldn't take him to his job on take your kid to work day or he would be fired. Zinkoff skipped Field Day because nobody wanted him on their team. Then he ended up on 900 Willow Block. The old lady and Zinkoff ate peanut butter sandwiches with pretend jelly. Zinkoff went looking for Claudia for 7 hours, so nice. The last one is Bonce left Zinkoff play on his football team.
The best part of the book was when Zinkoff went looking for Claudia, because that shows how much he cares. If I could change anything in the book, I would have change when Bonce and Tuttle were throwing the ball at Zinkoff's chest because that's mean and he wouldn't do it to them. Zinkoff had many Character Traits during this novel. One Character Trait he had was caring because he went looking for Claudia for 7 hours. Another Zinkoff Character Trait us unique because he does things his way and no matter what people say he's still the same. I liked how the story ended because Bonce let Zinkoff play on his team and that was nice since he didn't know how to play that much.

Here's The Scoop
Today is Friday, November 15, 2013 and the weather is getting colder. This week has been good. Just some things, but no big deal. I really feel sorry for Mrs.Walker, she had to write 5 referrals and some kids broke her heart. They 're gonna pay.
We've been working hard in Math. We learned new Divisibility rules. An example of Divisibility is by 2, if a number is divisible by 2, it has to be an even number so 0, 2, 4, 6, or 8. We have also learned to find the Greatest Common Factor. In order to find the GFC you need to find all the multiples of the numbers. Then line up all the the multiples and then circle the multiples. The biggest multiple is the GCF.
Number of the day is 33. We take a number and find all the ways we can to make the number. We can also draw pictures.
Mrs.Binge's 6th grade class is selling snack passes for $1.00. You get a snack pass if you pay a dollar and you bring a snack. They money they raise goes to Growing Strong and Habitat for Humanity.
Congratulations to the following students that made the Durfee basketball team; Jahmel, Tyler, Kaderius, Kamilian, Jacobe, and Trelyn. Our first game is on Tuesday at the DISC at 3:45.
Our next States and Capitals test is Wednesday, November 20, 2013. I am currently studying to take the nicknames. I am sure I will do a great job. There is a song on Youtube that has been helping us with our states. I really like the song.
We have also been studying lots of Vocabulary words. Each week we make flash cards, work on sentences, graphic organizers and made videos with our ipads.
Our holiday program is December 12 at 12:45. The 5th graders will be singing Jingle Bell Rock and We Will Jingle.
In Reading we are reading Loser. The book is about a boy that is active and clumsy and really doesn't care about anything.

My Crew
When I shoot,
I look cute.
That's just what I do,
I even got myself my own crew.
But I'm the star,
That's just who we are.
We never lose a game,
Because were never lame.
We never think,
We just do.
When it was Breast Cancer month
We wore pink.
That's just me and my crew,
And that's what we do!

Shiloh Book Review
Today is Thursday, October 24, 2013. We have just completed our second novel, Shiloh. The protagonist in the book is Marty Preston. A protagonist is the main character. The antagonist in the story is Judd Travers. An antagonist is the main character who fights against the protagonist. The main conflict in the story is when Marty was hiding Shiloh from Judd and his parents on the hill. My favorite part of the story was when Judd let Marty have Shiloh because of how hard he worked and he had to pay for Shiloh. My least favorite part was when Shiloh got beat up by that German Shepard. If I could get any of the characters in the book I would be Marty, because he cares for others and he's responsible and I'm the same way. I would recommend this book to another student because it would teach them to tell when something is going wrong, like Marty did.
Overall this was how the book was, hope you like it. Make sure you comment!

Here's The Scoop
Today is October 4, 2013. It has been an alright week. I did a wonderful job on my states test, I got a
100%. I will start on my capitals. I find learning the states easy.
In math we have been working on Place Value. I think Place Value is an easy lesson. We worked on the itunes u with Ms. Ellis in Math. I really enjoy it. The most interesting thing working with itunes u is the work.
We started a new novel called Shiloh. It is about a boy named Marty, that found a dog. Plus the dog gets beat by it's original owner so now Marty is trying to hide the dog from it's owner any way he can. The one thing I like so far is when Marty is trying to protect Shiloh, so he has to find anyway he can to protect Shiloh. The one thing I didn't like was when Judd is always spitting out tobacco. Because that's so nasty and I don't like it. One character trait of Marty is that he is a caring boy.
October is Breast Cancer awareness month. Three important facts about it are One of eight women are gonna be diagnosed with breast cancer. Every two minutes, there's a new breast cancer diagnosis. The majority of women diagnosed with breast cancer have no family history, sad. Grades come out in a couple of weeks. I'm sure I got straight A's.
And that's the Scoop.
