Shiloh Book Review

Today is Thursday, October 24, 2013. We have just completed our second novel, Shiloh. The protagonist in the book is Marty Preston. A protagonist is the main character. The antagonist in the story is Judd Travers. An antagonist is the main character who fights against the protagonist. The main conflict in the story is when Marty was hiding Shiloh from Judd and his parents on the hill. My favorite part of the story was when Judd let Marty have Shiloh because of how hard he worked and he had to pay for Shiloh. My least favorite part was when Shiloh got beat up by that German Shepard. If I could get any of the characters in the book I would be Marty, because he cares for others and he's responsible and I'm the same way. I would recommend this book to another student because it would teach them to tell when something is going wrong, like Marty did.
Overall this was how the book was, hope you like it. Make sure you comment!

Here's The Scoop

Today is October 4, 2013. It has been an alright week. I did a wonderful job on my states test, I got a
100%. I will start on my capitals. I find learning the states easy.
In math we have been working on Place Value. I think Place Value is an easy lesson. We worked on the itunes u with Ms. Ellis in Math. I really enjoy it. The most interesting thing working with itunes u is the work.

We started a new novel called Shiloh. It is  about a boy named Marty, that found a dog. Plus the dog gets beat by it's original owner so now Marty is trying to hide the dog from it's owner any way he can. The one thing I like so far is when Marty is trying to protect Shiloh, so he has to find anyway he can to protect Shiloh. The one thing I didn't like was when Judd is always spitting out tobacco. Because that's so nasty and I don't like it. One character trait of Marty is that he is a caring boy.

October is Breast Cancer awareness month. Three important facts about it are One of eight women are gonna be diagnosed with breast cancer. Every two minutes, there's a new breast cancer diagnosis. The majority of women diagnosed  with breast cancer have no family history, sad. Grades come out in a couple of weeks. I'm sure I got straight A's.
                                             And that's the Scoop.

Maniac Magee

I'm doing a review on Maniac Magee.
The first thing that happened in the story is when Maniac's parents died in a P and W Trolley accident and he became an orphan. Then, Maniac lived with Amanda. Next, Maniac left Amanda's house because he didn't want to start any trouble. Now, Mars Bar saved Piper and from falling off the trestle.
Finally, truly someone was calling him home. I have traits of Maniac Magee. Maniac is happy, smart, runs, and his reaction to Mrs. Beale saying he can stay is thank you, thank you, thank you. I learned a valuable lesson about Maniac Magee. The lesson that I learned is that people shouldn't be separated by their color because of Maniac, that stopped. Maniac reminds me of the time my brothers, sister, and I were taken away from home. It all started because my other sister lied to DCFS, and told them our parents were abusing us. I have 5 ways Maniac is like me. 1.we're both smart. 2.we are both athletic. 3.we care for others. 4.we can play football. 5.we can run.
If I could save one character in the story from a natural disaster it would be Maniac Magee. I would save Maniac because he is a leader. The character that I would want to be my friend is Maniac Magee. because he is a leader,  and I'm a leader and we care about others. The part of the book that I would change is the part when they wrote on The Beales' house, Ishbelly Go Home. I would change it because it's racist and I hate prejudice . If Maniac were to visit our classroom he would like me best because were exactly the same.
That's my review on Maniac Magee. The End

Walker's 5th Grade Wonders

On August 14, 2013, when I walked through the door in Durfee Technology Magnet School I was ready to learn.  I'm nice, I love to learn, I'm  always caring about others, and I'm good at basketball.  The Character Traits that will make a good friend for me in 5th grade is that is a smart, cares about others, good in school, and helpful.  My parents and my teacher are important to me.  They help and care for me, and for that I really appreciate them.  I expect to learn double digit Multiplication.  The hardest thing that I've had to do in 5th Grade so far is the Maniac questions.  Not all the questions are hard just some.  If I were the teacher I would change the recess time to 30 minutes and instead of warnings, I would give numbers.  One thing I have enjoyed about 5th grade is the teacher. She's nice, cares for me, and gives me lots of hugs, and she's pretty.

Here's The Scoop From Room 12

Today is another HOT day in room 12. It's Wednesday,September 11, 2013. The temperature says it is 95 degrees right now. The hardest part about being in school is that when I have my glasses on,I get really sweaty. This week we will be taking two district tests in Reading and Math.  I think I did a wonderful job. We have been Reading Maniac Magee. The best part of the book so far is the whole book.  I really didn't like it when Amanda said that Maniac doesn't have an address.  We have been working on Plot,Character, and Setting while reading Maniac Magee.
Plot is the main events.  Character is the main people in the story.  Setting is the where and when the story takes place.  We will be taking a States Test on September 25,2013.  I am sure I will ace this test with a perfect A plus.
